Requesting a Copy of a Marriage License
Often times other public and private entities, such as the Bureau of Motor Vehicles or Social Security, will need to see proof that you got married. What they want to see is known as a Certified Copy of a Marriage License. These certified copies are issued by the Probate Court, that issued the license.
The cost for a Certified Copy is $2.00 (additional fees apply for card transactions and postage).
Certified Copies can be requested in person, by mail, or by phone. Further information on how to make a request is listed below.
Requesting in Person
- Requests in person should be made at the Probate Court Office located on the 2nd of the Safety Building 201 West Main St. Troy, OH 45373
- The Court will need the names of the individuals that got married are, and the date of the marriage.
- Please note that if you can call the Probate Court prior to arriving to ask that Certified Copies be prepared
Requesting by Mail
- For requests by mail please complete the Marriage License Request Form. The form should be completed in its entirety.
- Once completed mail the request to the Probate Court Office located on the 2nd of the Safety Building 201 West Main St. Troy, OH 45373.
- Requests by mail are payable by cash or check. Checks should be payable to the Miami County Probate Court
- All requests must have the appropriate funds to pay for the request, and a self-addressed stamped envelope envelop
Requests by Phone
- Requests by phone must be paid at that time by credit / debit Card (unless you are coming in person to pick them up).
- There is a $2.00 additional charge for all credit / debit card transactions and you will be charged for postage
Please note that if the Marriage License was not issued by Miami County Probate Court you will need to contact the Probate Court that issued the License.
