Concealed Carry Information

Any person residing in the State of Ohio needing to renew or obtain a C.C.W. permit needs to schedule an appointment by calling the C.C.W. office at 937-440-6095 or email between 8:00 A.M. and 4:00 P.M., Monday through Friday. ***CCW appointments take place at the Miami County Incarceration Facility, 2042 N. CR 25a, Troy, OH 45373.***

Effective July 1st, 2021

In accordance to Ohio law, effective July 1st, 2021, residents applying for CCW (new and renewal applications) can only apply in their county of residence or adjacent county. Residents will no longer have an extended grace period of 90 days, but will return to the original 30 day grace period.  Residents who are unable to renew within the 30 day grace period of their permit expiring will NOT be required to retake a CCW class.  Please be advised you will not be able to carry concealed after the 30 day grace period until your permit is renewed.

Previously, Governor DeWine signed House Bill 614 which states if your license is scheduled to expire between March 9, 2020 and June 30, 2021, the expiration date is extended by 90 days or until June 30, 2021, whichever is later. House Bill 614 also allowed residents of Ohio to apply for a license or renew a license at ANY Sheriff’s office in Ohio. Residents were not limited to their residing county or an adjacent county. This bill expired on June 30, 2021.

CCW Office

To obtain C.C.W. permit the following items will be needed at the time of appointment.

  • Completed Ohio C.C.W. permit application
  • Color photo at least 2 x 2
  • Copy of training certificate (the original is good for 3 years for initial C.C.W permit)
  • Certified check or money order for the correct amount, payable to the Miami County Sheriff's Office
  • Valid Ohio driver's license

To obtain a C.C.W. renewal the following items will be needed at the time of the appointment.

  • Completed Ohio C.C.W. renewal application
  • Valid Ohio driver's license
  • Certified check or money order for the correct amount, payable to the Miami County Sheriff's Office
  • Color photo at least 2 x 2 is only requested if your original Ohio C.C.W. permit was issued from another county
  • Copy of training certificate is only requested if your original Ohio C.C.W. permit was issued from another county.
  • Renewal Appointments can be made 90 days prior to expiration date or anytime after

NOTE:

Fingerprints will be taken at the time of appointment and all paperwork processed as timely as possible depending on the volume of applications and renewals submitted. Applicants should provide a valid phone number to be contacted at during business hours. We will call when permit is ready and Applicant will need to come sign for permit at the Miami County Incarceration Facility, 2042 N. CR 25a. The Office is open Monday - Friday from 8am to 4 pm. (except for Legal Holidays) The entire process may take up to 45 business days from time of appointment.
