The American Correctional Association

The American Correctional Association was founded in 1870 in Cincinnati, Ohio to promote improvement in the management of all correctional agencies through the administration of an accreditation program with the ongoing development and revision of relevant, useful standards designed to improve conditions of confinement. The first Director was then-Governor and future President, Rutherford B. Hayes.

West Central Juvenile Rehabilitation Facility became accredited with ACA first in 2007. Then the facility was re-accredited in 2010, 2013, 2016 and again in 2019. In all five audits, 100% compliance in all mandatory standards of operation for a juvenile community corrections facility was achieved. This is a very difficult process and the achievement shows West Central’s dedication to the youth it serves through programs and activates designed to help create change and assist the youth in becoming positive and productive citizens.

West Central will be striving for re-accreditation again in 2022.
