COVID-19 PRECAUTION HOUR CHANGES:

In effort to prevent the spread of the infections disease known as COVID-19, we are limiting public contact with county employees. We are opened to the public back to our normal business days and hours. We will only allow 4 citizens into our facility at a time and will have markers in our facility and outside of our facility to implement the safe social distancing of 6ft apart.

Animal Shelter Services

The Miami County Animal Shelter, a county operated agency:

  • Takes in stray and owner released (with proof of residency) dogs and cats in Miami County ONLY 
  • Provides lost and found service
  • Adopts out dogs and cats to new homes
  • Sells dog licenses
  • Enforces all state and county dog laws

Dog Licenses & Owner Information

Dog licenses are available online, at the Auditors office and the Miami County Animal Shelter. If you have found a dog wearing a Miami County dog license during business hours please contact the Miami County Animal Shelter 937-332-6919. If it is after business hours, please contact 911 using the non-emergency phone number 937-440-9911. 

Lost & Found

If you are missing a dog, you should call or come into the shelter at least every 3 days.

For your convenience, donations can now be made via through Amazon. We are currently in need of replacement fabric for our medium and large dog beds. These items can be ordered and donated directly by going to Kuranda Dog & Cat Beds. Please specify "standard/poly" bed type and "heavy duty vinyl" fabric.

Volunteer Program

Interested in helping the dogs and cats at the animal shelter? Maybe work at one of our special events to help adopt dogs/cats? Or maybe you’d just like to spend time walking or grooming them. If so, you can print out a Volunteer Application (PDF), complete it and bring it to the animal shelter.
