SCRAM Supervision

The SCRAM program is another program similar to ISP but uses an alcohol monitoring bracelet to assist those with alcohol issues. SCRAM, which stands for Secure Continuous Remote Alcohol Monitoring is a bracelet worn by the defendant 24 hours a day 7 days a week. The bracelet will take periodic alcohol tests from the defendant's ankle and will store that reading until it is uploaded by the Probation Officer. The SCRAM Company will then analyze the data to determine if a defendant is or has been drinking.

The SCRAM bracelet is a very sensitive piece of equipment. Those that wear it are prohibited from using any products that contain alcohol (i.e. hairspray, lotions, shampoos, toothpaste, mouthwash, etc.). If any of these products are used while on the program the defendant could be disqualified and placed in jail. The SCRAM bracelet is able to tell the difference between consumption or absorption.

Like ISP, the SCRAM program requires a defendant to report to an officer weekly, however most SCRAM defendants report to the office 2x per week to upload their bracelets. All defendants are required to have an alcohol and drug evaluation while on the program. Each defendant must also follow a life schedule and pay off all court related fines and court costs, as well as keep up with their SCRAM fees. A person going on the SCRAM program must pay $170.00 installation fee and pay $70.00 per week. All defendants' are on the program for a minimum of 90 days and must write a letter to their Judge requesting to come off of the program.
