Electronically Monitored House Arrest (EMHA)

EMHA is viewed by the Court as a term of incarceration. In basic terms, an inmate's jail cell is moved from the Miami County Jail to the inmate's home. Inmates released to EMHA will be monitored by computerized equipment consisting of an ankle bracelet worn by the inmate and a base unit which remains in the inmate's home. Inmates placed on EMHA receive one day jail credit for each day served on EMHA only if the inmate successfully completes this term of supervision. Inmates released on EMHA will be permitted to leave home on a schedule determined by the EMHA officer. No drug or alcohol use will be tolerated while inmates are under EMHA supervision. Home visits are conducted by the EMHA staff to ensure program compliance. The cost of the EMHA program is an initial hook-up fee of $85.00. The weekly program fee is $70.00 per week.
