Miami County Transfer Station and Recycling Center

The Transfer Station disposes of all refuse collected by municipalities and commercial trash haulers operating in the county. Click here for information on waste haulers in your area.

The Solid Waste District also provides recycling and waste reduction programs for Miami County residents, businesses and schools. Be sure to visit our Recycling Center, and check out our upcoming events and special programs.

Miami County Transfer Station and Recycling Center
2200 North County Road 25-A, Troy, Ohio


  • Monday through Friday from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm
  • Saturday from 7:00 am to 2:30 pm

The Transfer Station and Recycling Center will be closed:
  • Christmas and New Years Day
  • After 4 pm on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve

The Transfer Station will be closed to non-commercial haulers:
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving Day

Tipping Rates:
  • Charges for refuse are $49.05 per ton plus $4.75 per ton OEPA fee, for a total charge of $53.80 per ton. Loads of 200 pounds or under will incur a minimum charge of $5.00.
  • Payment can be made by cash, check, Visa, MasterCard, Discover or American Express.
  • Clean, pre-sorted recyclables may be deposited at the Recycling Center for no charge.

  • Passenger tires - $3 per tire plus weight
  • Truck tires - $6 per tire plus weight
  • Farm tires - $20 per tire plus weight
  • Low Density Surcharge - $16.50/ton X Difference in Minimum & Actual Weight
  • Labor for Digout - $65 per hour
  • Lead Acid Batteries – taken through the transfer station and charged by weight.
  • Vehicle Weigh - $10.00
  • Returned Check fee - $35.00
  • Freon Filled Appliances - $10 per appliance
  • Spill Cleanup - $40 per hour plus material, equipment and disposal

Pay as You Throw Program (Blue Bag Program):
This program is available to residents without curbside trash pickup. Residents may buy a package of five 30-gallon trash bags for $6.00, and bring back full bags to a drop site in the Recycling Center for no additional charge.

Governance and Management Plan:
The Miami County Sanitary Engineering Department operates the Solid Waste District and Transfer Station in accordance with Ohio EPA guidelines.

The Miami County Solid Waste District operates with the guidance of the Ohio EPA and the Miami County Solid Waste Management Policy Committee, and is currently implementing its 2016-2030 Solid Waste Management Plan.
