Miami County Department of Development-Building and Electrical Inspector 1-Full Time
Performs assigned on-site inspections of building construction in progress (e.g., gains access to work sites; inspects foundations, crawl spaces, structures, insulation, and ventilation; drives to work site; etc.). Reviews assigned building plans for compliance to appropriate codes and standards; communicates with contractors, homeowners, architects, etc., regarding code standards and compliance; collects evidence to assist in prosecution of code violators; serves as liaison between department and fire prevention personnel. Miami County Juvenile Court-Community Service Youth Supervisor-Seasonal/Intermittent Part Time
Provides on-site supervision to juveniles participating in the court ordered community gardening program.  Monitors and reports youth’s participation in program.  Provides supervision and direction to youth in the gardening program.  Supervises youth behavior and acts as a mentor to youth in program.  Transports youth to and from site in County vehicle. Work with families at risk of child maltreatment, screened in to alternative response pathway, as partners to identify family strengths, needs, and risks or concerns that are interfering with child safety, healthy child development, and/or family stability and well-being.  Use standardized tools and protocols to assess and document safety and risk. Create individualized service plans and/or case plans with identified goals in partnership with family and build objectives toward achieving goals. Miami County Veterans' Services-Transport Van Driver-Part Time/PRN
Transport eligible veterans to and from the Dayton VA Medical Center (VAMC). Pick them up from and return them to their place of residence. Transport VAMC referred veterans to other medical appointments in the vicinity of the Dayton VAMC as well as to WPAFB. Maintain veterans’ appointments in Outlook and schedule their pickup times.  Monitor and update in Excel the passenger listing as needed.  Provide to and receipt from new passengers the van transportation policy.  Record and complete mileage and fuel usage report as well as passenger and trips report. Coordinate with veterans who might have to have assistance equipment to accompany them. Coordinate with VAMC nurses and social workers when a hospitalized veteran is released and need transportation.  Assist veterans with appointment changes to meet the transportation schedule. Maintain safety and hygiene of van and communicate needs to admin assistant. Schedule maintenance and hygiene appointments and ensure van meets the appointment.  Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable OSHA safety standards pertaining to job function. Miami County Veteran's Services-Support Assistance Officer/Investigator-Full Time
Responsible for assisting veterans who are seeking financial assistance to help in relief of inadequate budget to meet daily living expenses.  Provide money management advice and/or refer to job center for employment assistance.  Conduct welfare checks to the senior and shut-in veterans of the county, access their needs, provide assistance, and make referrals if needed.  Verify suspicions of false statements to prevent fraud and protect county funds. Educate and field inquiries about local, state, and federal veterans’ benefits. Assist with acquiring a DD214/Discharge and other military documents.  Maintain databases, files, and spreadsheets used to document assistance and gather data for reports. Miami County Sheriff's Office-Corrections Officer-Full Time
Corrections officers are responsible for overseeing individuals who have been arrested and are awaiting trial or who have been sentenced to serve time in jail. In Miami County the Sheriff’s Office operates two jail facilities and staff both with corrections officers. The first is a 43 bed facility located in downtown Troy and is considered maximum security, holding our highest risk inmates. The second jail is located in CR 25a north of Troy and is a 240 bed facility holding less serious male offenders and females. Corrections Officers rotate between both locations. Duties include: Periodic patrols and checks; monitoring inmate living quarters; screening visitors; inmate counts and other duties as required.
