This site is intended to help in understanding the county zoning process for the unincorporated areas of Miami County.
The Miami County Planning & Zoning Department administers county zoning for eight of the twelve townships in the county including: Concord, Monroe, Newberry, Newton, Springcreek, Staunton, Union and Washington Townships. The townships of Bethel, Brown, Elizabeth and Lostcreek administer their own zoning.
County and township zoning is authorized by Chapters 303 and 519 of the Ohio Revised Code. County or township zoning does not apply to any incorporated village or city. Miami County’s modern zoning resolution dates back to 1972. While there have been numerous text changes over the years, the number of different zoning districts has remained relatively unchanged.
